Objectives

 
  • The cell look after the related matters of depriving a student/staff or group of students on the basis of caste, creed, language, ethnicity and gender, different ability.
  • The cell eliminates the discrimination against or harassment of any individual in all forms by prohibiting it and by providing preventive and protective measure to facilitate its eradication and punishment for those who indulge in any form of discrimination or harassment.
  • The cell ensure conducive environment for academic growth of people belonging to the university.

Mechanism

 
  • Any student or their parents/guardians who wants to bring to the notice of Committee, if anyact of discrimination faced by them.
  • A complaint about the discrimination or harassment must be made in writing by a student or a parent of a student addressed to the Committee, irrespective of whether the discrimination or harassment is alleged to have taken place within institution.
  • The complaint shall include sufficient details of the alleged act of discrimination or harassment with the details of the Complainant. The committee has to fix the hearing date atthe earliest.
  • The Complainant should be called before the committee and the committee should hear boththe sides in detail. The committee after hearing has to submit its recommendations to theDisciplinary Authority.
  • The Disciplinary authority will take appropriate action as per the recommendations of theCommittee.
  • The complaint received by the Committee should be resolved within 30 days from the date of receipt of the complaint.

Roles and Responsibilities

 
  • To ensure equity and equal opportunity to the community at large in the college and bring about social inclusion.
  • To enhance the diversity among the students, teaching and non-teaching staff population and at the same time eliminate the perception of discrimination.
  • To create a socially congenial atmosphere for academic interaction and for the growth of healthy interpersonal relationships among the students coming from various social backgrounds.
  • To make efforts to sensitize the academic community regarding the problems associated withsocial exclusion as well as aspirations of the marginalized communities. 5. To help individuals or a group of students belonging to the disadvantaged section of society to contain the problems related to discrimination.
